About Us / F.A.Q.

Modcinema.com functions as a conversion service for collectors of hard-to-find movies. We do not sell factory sealed DVDs. Our DVD-R's are reproductions/conversions from public domain sources.

All DVD's come in a standard case with full color artwork and the title of the film laser printed on the surface of the disc.

What is Modcinema.com?

Modcinema.com is a video service specializing in rare, unreleased, and hard to find 60's/70's/80's films, documentaries, tv shows, and trailers. We offer copies of movies currently unavailable, we do not sell movies officially released on DVD domestically or worldwide. The section of American copyright law known as "The Berne Act" clearly states: films unreleased in the United States, including original version of films altered and/or edited for release in the United States, are not protected by American copyright; thus, they are considered public domain. The entire purpose of our Modcinema.com is to provide otherwise unavailable films to the serious video collector. We do not offer films owned by American releasing companies. If a film should become available domestically we immediately stop offering it to our clients.

How good are the quality of your DVD's?

The quality varies wildly. While most of our prints are excellent and transferred from a digital source, some (because of their rarity, coupled with unavoidable PAL or SeCAM transfer distortions, video transfers from foreign television broadcasts, etc.) are less than perfect. However, do provide "screen captures" of every single film we have available, so that you can view the picture quality yourself before you buy, that way you know exactly what you're getting. All of our releases are in full frame unless otherwise noted.

Will you ship international? Will your DVD's play in my country's DVD player?

All DVD's available thru modcinema.com are coded Region 0. This means that there is no region code and they will play on almost any DVD player worldwide regardless if it's an NTSC machine or PAL machine. Almost all DVD players sold in PAL countries play both kinds of discs (NTSC & PAL). These multi-standard players partially convert NTSC to a 60-Hz PAL (4.43 NTSC) signal. The player uses the PAL 4.43-MHz color subcarrier encoding format but keeps the 525/60 NTSC scanning rate. Most modern PAL TVs can handle this "pseudo-PAL" signal. We have sold DVD's to dozens of countries and have received almost no reports of incompatibility, however if you still have concerns over whether or not our discs will play on your machine, feel free to contact us!

What form of payment do you accept?

CCNOW is our secure online retailer and accepts Visa, MasterCard, Paypal, Discover, American Express, JCB, and Diners Club International. For Visa and MasterCard transactions, you may select an alternate currency. All other payment types will be charged in USD, regardless of currency selected.

Do you offer discounts for multiple purchases?

Not at this time, sorry!

Can you guarantee I'm getting the best quality transfer available?

We are constantly upgrading the source of our films to make sure you're getting the highest quality transfer available. If you have purchased a film from us in the past and notice we now offer a new transfer of that same title, you are eligible to receive a free upgrade disc with your next purchase. Simply type "free upgrade disc" and the title of the film you are upgrading in the "special instructions" box when you checkout. If our records verify you have purchased that title from us in the past we will include it with your order free of charge.

How do you ship? How soon will I get it?

We ship using the USPS Mail First Class Service unless noted. We typically dispatch orders twice a week. US orders usually arrive within a week of shipment, please allow 2-3 weeks for international orders. Please be patient when we are experiencing a high volume of orders, generally at the beginning of the month and holidays.
